A short introduction on gadgets

Gadgets form an integral part of our everyday lives. They are essentially small tools or rather machines intended to perform a specific function. However, gadgets are often considered as a novelty. The gadgets are often referred to as gizmos as well. These two words often define the swagger of the individuals who are tech savvy.  With the evolution of modern age more and more gadgets are being invented which not only makes our lives easier but also makes a style and fashion statement in this glitzy world.

There are many stories and speculations related to the etymology or origin of this particular. The earliest form of the word was used long back in 19th century. It was initially used to suggest any technical item whose specific name could not be identified. Another one theory suggests that it was named after the well-known company of Gadget, Gauthier & Cie. Some suggests that it was originated from the French words gâchette (numerous pieces of firing mechanism) and gagée (a tiny accessory or tool).

It is a known fact that the usage of the word gadget came from military or particularly navy. However, the current usage of this word has been evolved quite a lot with the passage of time. The best example of the varied use of the term was during the manufacture of the earliest atomic bomb in the famous Manhattan project when the scientists tested it in Trinity Site. The software industry uses it profusely for the programs that not need independent applications when launched for providing services.
